IKEA Cabinets

Does anyone have experience with IKEA kitchen cabinets? 

I'm seriously considering them for our kitchen. They are ridiculously inexpensive compared to other cabinets; less than 1/3 the cost of custom. The quality seems pretty good, certainly perfectly suitable for a weekend house that will sit unused for 80% of the time. 

I'd be interested in any opinions, good or bad, and any experiences that people have had.

    Hey there - a friend of mine whose husband is in construction and they're both big sticklers for quality and value just re-did their kitchen using IKEA cabinets. They are very happy with them and she was convincing me that I should do the same when I do my kitchen remodel . . . if you want to takl with her I can connect you, let me know! D

    As an architect, I've used Ikea cabinets on a few projects including my own house and I have another architect friend that has done the same. I assembled them myself which was straightforward and helped to save on costs. Their hardware has also improved to include silent drawer glides which they didn't have when I purchased the cabinets. Because the parts, accessories and doors are interchangeable, it's easy to modify the design. I hope that helps.

      I had wondered if, since the prices are so low compared to other cabinets, that peoples' quality expectations would be low as well, and therefore easy to exceed. I am now convinced that this is not the case, because not one person has expressed a quality concern, even years after the purchase. Everyone I have heard from has been pleased and said they would buy them again.
