North Lock Farm is our weekend retreat in the Virginia Piedmont. It is located in Fauquier County, on the Rappahannock River, which is the longest free running river in the East (184
miles from Chester Gap to the Chesapeake Bay.) In the early 1800's a canal was built on the Rappahannock River to facilitate trade. The northernmost lock is located on our property, which gives the
farm its name. The remains of the lock can still be seen in the river. We are building a new getaway home on the property. This site will chronicle the construction project with words, video and
pictures. Comments are welcome. email questions or suggestions to me: bill AT northlock DOT org Please check back often!
